Bigger and better

“Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you;
spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.”
– Amy Poehler

This week we’re excited to announce we have a new partner!

Selen Turner formerly held leadership roles in HR and talent management/development with organizations including Mastercard and global medical device pioneer Cordis. She officially joined the Advantage team on August 1.

Advantage President & CEO Jonathan Hodge introduced Selen yesterday at our weekly Zoom collaboration call as someone who shares our values and has had an impressive career in talent development.

After 20 years in corporate environments, Selen said she is looking forward to establishing her Advantage practice and increasing her reach. “What gives me joy the most is bringing people together,”Selen told the group on the call. “I really believe we are stronger together.”

A native of Turkey, where her mother established a school and farm for people with disabilities to help them live independently, Selen initially followed her brother to the United States. She got an MBA,  and began her work career here in volunteer service leading HR for Branches, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Florida that brings “life-changing opportunities to families and their children to break the cycle of poverty.”

She has been president of the Association for Talent Development South Florida Chapter, and also held talent development/HR positions at Carnival Cruise Lines and Ryder Systems. She is also working to complete a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology for which she is researching how formal DEI initiatives are impacting African American women.

Selen currently resides in southeast Florida with her husband, Andie, and two rescue dogs. Connect with her on LinkedIn.

Welcome to the team, Selen! We’re thrilled you have chosen to join us for the next stage of your successful career.

One great thing for 08.06.24 – We loved getting to know Stephen the Pommel Horse Guy at the Olympics in Paris. (NPR)
