Today we’d like to introduce you to someone special in the Advantage family – Henrik Ekelund, the chairman and founder of our parent company, BTS Group.

As CEO for 36 years, Henrik led BTS from its start in a cold garage in Stockholm to a global consulting agency of 2,000 professionals, from its IPO in 2001 to 1200 percent growth and an average of 18 percent annual shareholder returns throughout his tenure. In 2010, Henrik was named Sweden’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

At its heart, BTS sees its highest purpose as “strategy made personal –  inspiring and equipping people and organizations to do the best work of their lives.”  Henrik has lived that purpose through the company and by investing in, advising, or assisting numerous startups, high-growth companies, and charitable causes.

Since transitioning from CEO to chairman just over 18 months ago, he has participated in and written on economic growth for the World Economic Forum and other publications as he shifts his focus from what makes companies great to what makes nations great. (He also recently managed to squeeze in one of his passions, adventure sailing.)
