Talent Development Tuesday
Building success in talent development – one thought at a time.
A magic burger
“Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think
we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.”
– Brené Brown
Public speaking is still one of the things people most fear in life, which is why there are plenty of programs out there about how to make better presentations.
We’re in love with a learning experience that adds a magic ingredient to your presentations, whether you want it with cheese or just plain (we’ll explain). It does this by focusing not just on those critical presentation skills but also on a person’s presence – the ability to command a room, hold an audience’s attention, and deliver an engaging message with confidence and poise. In other words, the person becomes the presentation.
Because your organization’s communication blitz is only as good as the person making the presentation, the person representing your brand at a critical moment in time, it’s also important for that person to develop an awareness of and authentic polish for their overall presence.
Did we mention it has to be authentic? In short, the workshop helps you be you – the best you possible.
Behind the scenes this week during our internal Advantage Zoom call, we were excited to hear from our thought leader partner Dr. Sharon Lamm-Hartman, whose bestselling, award-winning book The Authenticity Code, is the foundation for her company’s live and virtual training workshops (named after the book) in presence and presentation skills.
The workshops, available from us through her company Inside-Out Learning, are helping leaders all around the world (for instance, at Boeing, The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Dexcom, Quest Diagnostics, and others) learn not just how to become good at making presentations, but also how to ensure their personal presence is authentic, on point, and impactful.
The workshop includes two variations (here’s that helpful metaphor): A plain “hamburger” version helps you develop all the core skills. A fancier “cheeseburger” option adds on coaching, a recorded practice, and feedback.
Results for participants include:
- A more commanding presence and better presentations.
- General leadership development
- Improved promotion rates among at least 38 percent of participants
- Greater diversity among promotions
- Increased sales revenue
It’s not just theory. We’re seeing our clients delight in the rigor and scholarly approach (Dr. Lamm-Hartman holds a PhD, a master’s and 2 bachelor’s degrees) that grounds her methodology and cuts across global cultures to deliver results for participants that they can put to use throughout their careers. One of them told her when they moved to Australia, about the only thing they took with them was her workbook.
Would you like cheese with that?
Contact us or talk to your Advantage partner to learn more about The Authenticity Code in-person and live virtual workshops. We’ll be happy to share how our clients are using it to uplevel their personal presence and, in doing so, their effectiveness as a presenter and as a leader.
