Talent Development Tuesday
Building success in talent development – one thought at a time.
Hiding in plain sight
“By far, the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that
people conclude too early that they understand it.”
– Eliezer Yudkowsky
Do you know who the hidden users of AI are in your company?
A 2024 Microsoft/LinkedIn study reveals that most AI users are bringing their own AI tools to work. This unsanctioned use can jeopardize data security and create inconsistencies in AI adoption across the organization.
These hidden users—employees who adopt AI tools without formal approval—are particularly concerning. In addition to data security risks, unstructured experimentation and use can lead to drastic results for organizations, teams, and customers.
A total of 46% of AI users started using these tools within the last 6 months, and 52% are reluctant to admit they get help from AI for important tasks.
According to our thought leader partners Richard Hodge and Jim Perry, who are the co-founders of Harness Intelligence (Hi), a new company that helps organizations safely activate AI, leaders need to wake up and get in front of this trend quickly.
In the first of a series of 3 articles, they present this dilemma as a unique opportunity for HR leaders and their departments.
