Talent Development Tuesday
Building success in talent development – one thought at a time.
Leading through uncertainty
We are all facing great challenges right now in our professional and personal lives. Uncertainty during a crisis adds a level of stress that can make even routine tasks seem nerve-wracking.
Here are some of the steps can you take during times of uncertainty – provided by our thought leader partners at BTS – to help your organization stay safe, stay engaged, and stay focused on moving your business forward.
- Communicate clearly and be decisive.
Communicate often and be up front with the unknowns. Lead confidently, and don’t be afraid to reset priorities in real time. - Build trust through authenticity.
Hope without evidence leads to a lack of confidence with employees. Adopt a fact-based approach and include key stakeholders. - Make a plan.
While 92% of U.S. executives have a crisis response plan, only 23% have used their plan, and only 21% review and test their plans regularly. - Practice the plan. Analyze the results.
The highest performing athletes & military are 95% practice to 5% performance. Simulations can be a valuable resource. - Stay close to your customers.
Mitigate risk by anticipating, understanding, and investing in the behaviors of your company’s core customer segments.
