Talent Development Tuesday
Building success in talent development – one thought at a time.
Lessons from Scrooge
“No space of regret can make amends for one life’s opportunity misused.”
– Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol
This week our thought leader partners at Ten Thousand Feet, Brent Snow and Sean Murray, take a look at a beloved Christmas tale through the lens of decision-making as taught in their popular learning experience for leaders, Decision Mojo.
As we know, Dickens tells the story of the transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge one Christmas Eve from “a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner,” to someone overflowing with joy and generosity by Christmas morning, eager to make amends for his selfish behavior.
The ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future visit Scrooge that night and help him slowly realize he’s made some bad decisions in his life and that time is of the essence if he’s going to make some better ones.
If you’re facing an important decision, here are 3 decision-making lessons from A Christmas Carol (plus a few more) to keep in mind. And here are some other decision-making resources on our website:
