Talent Development Tuesday
Building success in talent development – one thought at a time.
Practical magic
“And where does magic come from?
I think magic’s in the learning.”
– Dar Williams, New York folk artist
We’re seeing a global trend among some of our clients this year who are fortifying the talents of their front line leaders, salespeople, managers, and other employees with a return to fundamentals.
They’re focusing on those basic business skills that everyone needs, such as delegating, goal setting, financial understanding, or managing projects and people effectively.
During our weekly team collaboration call yesterday, we discussed how some organizations are investing heavily in helping their people refresh their skills with practical learning they can immediately apply on the job.
One of our own global pharmaceutical clients has committed to a new learning initiative to reinforce 22 fundamental skills they believe their salespeople have forgotten.
In tough times, people tend to go back to basics, to knowledge they can depend on, to what’s practical. There is no better way to gain practical knowledge than learning by doing.
That’s exactly what we specialize in at Advantage. Our best-in-class thought leaders help us focus on learning that’s experiential, fun, and memorable for our clients in our mission to help organizations develop great people.
And our customers love how their people can learn from their mistakes in a safe, simulated environment that takes the risk out of learning the hard way. Whatever the shifts your organization may need to master – a changing workforce, hybrid environments, economic uncertainties, challenges of inclusion, the need to innovate – a simulation will help you get there faster.
“There’s a bit of hidden magic in every mistake. The magic is called learning,” says entrepreneur and author Robert Kiyosaki.
We couldn’t agree more. That’s the magic of learning in a simulation that matches or closely resembles the work your people need to do, the decisions they need to be able to make, and the knowledge they need to grasp in order to do their best work.
Contact us or talk to your Advantage partner to learn more about the experiential learning that sets up apart, or for more learning ideas or support.
